Background & Development
Established in 1965, the Hong Kong Jewellery & Jade Manufacturers Association aims to unite those in the Hong Kong jewellery industry, protect the interests of its members, and promote the development of the trade.

Overview

The Hong Kong Jewellery & Jade Manufacturers Association (HKJJA) is the forerunner of export promotions for the jewellery and jade industry in Hong Kong. Early in 1965, our founders successfully persuaded the US government to lift the embargo on the jade products from Hong Kong. Since then, Hong Kong jade products with a certificate of origin are allowed to enter the US market. Our founders’ contribution had laid the foundation for HKJJA’s future services for the jewellery, jade and gemstone industry.

HKJJA took the lead to organize the very first local jewellery show in 1968, and then the premiere overseas show in New York in 1969. More than 40 years, HKJJA has been sparing no effort in exploring overseas business opportunities for the local jewellers, securing Hong Kong a prominent position in the world’s jewellery arena. HKJJA has been extending its scope of services to cater to the changing needs of the society and the trade.

Here is a summary of our services:

To actively liaise with the governments, trade organizations and jewellery industry bodies around the world, organizing trade delegations to different markets for a better understanding of the industry and the investment environment, while enabling experience and technological exchanges;

To organize group participations at local and overseas jewellery exhibitions and missions;

To hold seminars and talks conducted by professionals on the development of the world’s jewellery industry and significant trade issues, and to encourage on-the-job trainings and continued education;

To advocate ‘Quality Assurance Program’ ensuring the international standard of exhibits as well as the assurance of quality labels and industry integrity;

To sponsor the ‘Adopt-A-School’ project in hope to help ease inter-generation poverty;

The Magazine is the first Hong Kong-based bilingual trade quarterly for the world’s jewellery professionals. It has a wide circulation at the most important international trade fairs, aiming to keep readers updated of the global jewellery markets, design trends, industry development, exhibition highlights and pragmatic information including training courses;
