Membership type

Full Member :
For Hong Kong registered company which carries on jewellery business in Hong Kong, exporting its products mainly overseas and actively participating in overseas trade shows (Applicant should have minimum two years’ operation)
Associate Member :
For Hong Kong registered company which carries on jewellery business in Hong Kong, with target of the local market and therefore not participating in overseas trade shows, e.g. jadeite jewellery manufacturers, retailer, etc.
Corporate Member :
For Hong Kong registered company whose business is related to or associated with the jewellery industry, e.g. trade fair organizer, courier, insurance company, etc.

Benefits

  1. Trade Show Participation - Full Member and Corporate Member have priority on overseas trade show booth allotment and discounted show participation fee. Associate Member can only exhibit in overseas trade show after Full Member and Corporate Member have taken up their booths, and full participating fee  is to be paid.

  3. Jadeite and Gemstone Identification and Certification Service (provided by Hong Kong Jade & Stone Laboratory with members’ discount)
  4. Listing in Membership Directory published annually.
  5. Complimentary Copy of Hong Kong Jewellery magazine, four issues per year

  7. Seminar, Talk and Course Participation
  8. Free listing on HKJJA website “job vacancies” for staff recruitment

Application procedure

  1. Fill out the relevant Application Form and return together with the necessary documents to the Association.
  2. After preliminary examination, existing members will be consulted in form of circular.  Should no objection be received by the deadline, it will be assumed that members agree to the application. If the objection received is valid, the case will be presented to the Council of Management for directors’ voting, where simple majority (>50%) rules.
  3. A mandatory Quality Assurance Programme (QAP) test will be conducted by collecting a sample from applicant. Applicants who fail the tests will have their applications suspended until they pass the product tests.
  4. For full membership applicant, an office visit will be conducted.
  5. Successful applicants (after vetting procedures) will be formally notified by writing. A Certificate of Membership will be issued upon receipt of payments for entrance fee and annual membership fees (calculated on pro-rata basis).
Note: Applicants who are involved in legal disputes may have their applications suspended.

Documents Necessary for Membership Application

  1. Full Members
    1. Certificate of Incorporation (copy of identity proof owner(s) in the case of individual applicant, sole proprietor or partnership)
    2. Business Registration
    3. Annual Return (Form AR) to the Company Registry
    4. Audited financial reports for the past two years.
    5. Bank reference letter
    6. Notice of Insurance for “Employees Compensation Ordinance”
  2. Associate Members
    1. Certificate of Incorporation (copy of identity proof of owner(s) in the case of individual applicant, sole proprietor or partnership)
    2. Business Registration
    3. Annual Return (Form AR) to the Companies Registry
  3. Corporate Member
    1. Certificate of Incorporation
    2. Business Registration
    3. Annual Return (Form AR) to the Companies Registry

Duration

Membership application procedure usually takes about 2-4 weeks for Associate and Corporate Membership; 6-8 weeks for Full Membership.
